T-Shirts Time

As I’ve been tasked with redesigning buttons/brochures, I have also been tasked to redesign the AVID 2011 T-shirts. Since the AVID team voted for a certain T-shirt design, I’ve been told to illustrate the design onto a computer version. I started this project today and this is its progress so far.

Look out for a tutorial tomorrow.

Past Weeks

I have worked on the iParent/Got Plans?  project for some time now. I helped in translating those two things in Arabic while Chris Canel did the Spanish translations. And the good thing here is, that both Chris and I will get payed for our efforts. I also saw the mail (for the parents) come in with the iParent poster inside the envelope. It’s a good feeling seeing your work being spread out to a wide audience just like the AVID shirts.

Next week, I’ll post what I’m currently working on and a related tutorial that will follow it up. My classmates probably know already.

iParent, Got Plans? Translations, and Tutorials

I haven’t given any updates in a while that was because I was trying to enjoy my summer. I did manage to improve/fix changes on iParent as you can see (<——).

Changes: Removed my vector GUHSD logo and put in the original GUHSD logo (given as psd) (poster/notecard); added a picture in the notecard, removed Save the Date on the poster, and removed “workshops to include” on the poster as well.  The community seems to like it.

Got Plans?: Skocko told us of an opportunity to translate the Got Plans? postcard, flier, and poster. Chris and me split the job. Chris did the Spanish translations and I did the Arabic. Chris had it easy while I had go through detours to type Arabic and put it on the psds. Photoshop CS5 can’t type Arabic without breaking the letters so I had to use GIMP to read and write over it with Arabic text. Skocko plans to get an Arabic/Spanish versions of Photoshop to not have to deal with issues  again.  Click these public links to view my translations:

9/3/10: Today, I went to help out in the Mac Lab. I never informed anyone so it was a surprise. The team (Kyle W., Phillip B., Chris C., Christian L.) was already setting/cleaning up things. We had a lot to do (cleaning screens+mouses+tablets, setting up computers+ethernets, etc.) and we did finish by 5:00. And going to Alberto’s wasn’t so bad neither.

Tutorials: I haven’ made any tutorials this summer and I’m really sorry for that but I start working on some starting today and for the rest of the week! I’m posting a new tutorial tonight.

News: The AVID shirts I made for Mr. Fanning was well-liked by the principal that he ordered shirts for the staff to wear on Wednesdays.

posters, Posters, POSTERS

Lately I’ve been putting a lot of time into posters yet I can’t seem to finish them. One important I did last year was the Chemistry poster I made for my AP Chemistry class (hooray for extra credit). Skocko wants my Earth Day poster so he can print but he complained about the size (it’s always a feud). I also have to finish my AVID poster and not-to-mention, creating a color theory poster which was basically my only true homework in the MacLab. I also got started on designing a Palm Café lunch menu which is looking good so far. I hope I can get at least one poster printed by tomorrow.

P.S. I got 313 hits yesterday on my website when Skocko linked to my tutorial page on his blog. What a good day that was!

Dive into CS5

This picture is a poster made by Kyle W. and I for Mrs.White. Poster design will be a little more easier now with CS5. We got CS5 on Friday, but it’s not a trial version BUT will get the full version before/after it expires and we’re also covered for CS6 whenever that comes out. CS5 is amazing and I say that after touching the new features of Illustrator CS5 and Photoshop CS5 and I’m loving the content aware fill already as well as the width tool. The only thing that ticks me off is that I still have to outline the stroke to make it have a gradient since normal stroke can be one color.  Shapebuilder also makes thing a little bit easier than the normal method of using pathfinder(which might go extinct as shapebuilder devours it).

Monday: I was put in charge of making a poster for PTO who need posters/banners that promote kids being supplied food to students who don’t get to eat breakfast in the morning. I did not wish to do it but he insist that I do because he sits on his-so-called PowerChair. Anyways, I’m still trying to make color-theory poster as well as finishing the AVID poster.

Tuesday: Same as usual, working on icons and posters. I plan to make tutorials for Illustrator CS5 soon when I get finished making posters. Chris C. and Kyle W. are working hard on the “top-secret poster” for the school. The 3-d cityscape on the poster is cool but lacking color still. The file is huge and takes a while to save and so they barely make any progress on it which sounds like my big Illustrator project. I plan to finish the AVID poster by the end of this week so we can print it. I also will fix somethings in my EarthDay poster so we can print those out as well.  Don’t time to do anything today though since I have an arabic class in a few minutes so I guess I’ll a little bit harder tomorrow.

AVID, Posters, and EarthDay

I wasn’t to really update the blog much and I’m sorry for that and plus I had SOOOOO much work to do but anyways, I’ll brief you up on some things.  I been asked last week to make avid posters and avid shirts. I managed to finish the AVID shirts which I had to redo over and over and over and over again since Skocko wanted me to simplify it and make sure everything’s clean. I finished that part so all that’s left is AVID poster and then I plan to get back to work on my old projects so I’ll take a break from the jobs.

The iTeam and others are currently working on a poster so earlier they asked to help photoshop some books and they wanted me to pentool the edges of the book fast so we can patch them up together. I managed to do my part and we’ll see(you and I) on how the poster will turn out.

Also on Earth Day, I was still working with the iTeam to patch the books up but I did managed to draw this cooky thing. I knew that I wanted to start with a ying-yang sign then make it earth like so I planed to use the smaller circles as a(an) lake/island and use some effects from the effect gallery to make the left side grassy and the right side “oceany?” I added some text underneath and decided to use the font VAL.  I used the font Orbitron for the date on the bottom. I used dark blue to dark purple gradient for my background. I decided it would be to plain if I don’t add “life” to it so I decided to use symbols of animals, plants, and clouds to give form to this Earth Day poster. Skocko liked it and told to fix a little. It probably needs more tweeking but I fixed some problems at least.

When I made this Earth Day poster, I decided to make a tutorial on how to make the cool light effect on the “Earth Day” that you can see in the picture. So tomorrow, be sure to check this blog for some tutorials.
