iParent 2011Poster and Logo

You may have noticed this bears a very similar design to the Got Plans? poster and this is due to my Got Plans? poster not being chosen as the best design choice. Since I was working on another poster for people that also managed Got Plans?, they wanted me to use the Got Plans? poster design for the iParent. I was working over the summer and met with my clients to discuss further changes to the poster. Thus, I implemented design changes such as the raffle tickets, large text/papers, placement of objects, etc. I was also asked to make a logo if it was possible. So here are the current drafts of the poster and logo.

Getting right on Track

Sorry for my absence, I had quite a busy week(s) with AP tests and prom and all that jazz.

I finish the buttons and shirt but I still have to fix the Senior Awards brochure.

What I’m working currently on is my AP Physics Poster for my class. I’m still trying to fix my Force problems. Hopefully, I can finish this soon so we can print it later.

I’m also taking up doing this year’s Got Plans? poster.

I meant to re-record video tutorials but seeing how my mic makes me sound like nails on a chalkboard, I’ll try to buy a better one soon.

Also, big news, I won a $60,ooo scholarship to attend San Diego State University.

Vector Orb Tutorial Preview

Sorry for not posting a tutorial sooner but I promise to give you one today. I been having computer problems at home but I finally managed to fix things. In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a vector bubble/orb/sphere with some shadows, highlights, and masks. Will post the complete tutorial in a few hours.

Update 2

Sorry hat I haven’t posted in a while but I will make it up.

ZIPBUDS: So you’ve probably heard that I helped with the ZipBuds ad if you’ve read the Mac Lab post a week ago. I did help in a small part (helping make 3-D version of a company’s  icon vector file). I was asked if I could manage it to make a 3-D Extruded ZipBud icon by Steven Moyer  (alum). Though it was tricky to bypass the grey boxes you get from glows/effects, I saved day by using clipping masks. Phillip also tried to do an extruded Zipbud but failed (again grey boxes from Zipbuds) but he manage to make a good psd version. Either way, Steven Moyer still had a hard time impelling 3-D objects into Aftereffects so you won’t see it in the ad.

I didn’t just helped with the icon dilemma. I also helped in the practice shootings for the commercial in the Summer and the start of Spring semester. It was really fun shooting those silly scenes at school. At lunch time, we ate mostly pizza or just go to Alberto’s.

ELAC: I was also tasked with doing a poster and logo for  English Learner Advisory Council. Since I didn’t choose the job, only assigned, I procrastinated a lot (2 weeks) till I managed to make something good.  Just making a logo for something related to english learners was tricky enough.

DEVIANTART: I made my icons available to download on DeviantArt and I was slightly surprised by the outcome. Currently, each of my four icons (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Waterfox) averaging 50 70 downloads each. But I also fixed my icon shelves so it’s symmetrical horizontally and vertically. Download if you wish by clicking this link to my DeviantArt page.

The Icon Package

I finally manage to settle on a presentation design for my browser. They will all share the same layout and I hope to have them available to download on Friday through DeviantArt.

EDIT: Made some changes and posted the Safari icon on DeviantArt. I will upload other icons soon.

ican make icons

First of all, my Math Club poster did get printed —I’m surprised too. Skocko printed 5 that I asked for and I delivered them to 5 math teachers. They loved it.

Second, I spend some of my time designing icons-which I will upload on Deviant-Art if anyone wants to download them. I use IcoFx to convert them for different operating systems.

I’m also making a t-shirt design to try to win some money.

Ma(c)th Clu(la)b

Working in Mac Lab Saturday School and today is way longer than before since the video team was shooting something. I spent my time fixing up my math poster. I would say it’s almost ready for printing. I pen-tooled everything except  the wrinkled paper texture, of course. I added a bunch of textures to the pencil as well as the eraser. I will present the finished piece to Mr. Anderson, hopefully, on Monday.

I’m working on a poster for Math Club for which my client payed me a few dollars to do. Here’s is what it looks like right now. It’s not finished yet but it will be.

Project Preview

Just a sample of what I’m working on and what my upcoming tutorial might be about/involve.

Also, I gave a “job” to my friend Josh to render a 3-D version of my icon shelves through Cinema 4D.

Perspective Tutorial Preview

Feel free to download this wallpaper. I will fix the colors and such later. I will also upload on DeviantArt. If your resolution is smaller than 1440 by 900, then crop this image if you must.

This project was started when I couldn’t find any wallpaper of shelves small enough to fit icons so instead  I made my own wallpaper. It is a work in progress since I need to recolor some parts. We will try to recreate these shelves using the perspective. I did this original project the old-fashioned way, moving anchor points. Can’t post this tutorial today. I am also getting ready for school tomorrow.

P.S. This project was based on my own desktop, a 1440 by 900 resolution with classic icons checked for view. Medium icons can work too but you will have to adjust the spacing between icons.

9/8/10: I will post the tutorial to make this wallpaper later this week. I will fix iParent today if I can.
